Stuttgart, Germany – August 13th, 2015 – Impulse Dynamics announced today (13 August, 2015) the first implantation of its Optimizer IVs device in Poland, at the University Hospital  – Central Veterans’ Hospital in Lodz.  The implantation was performed by Dr. Krzysztof Kaczmarek and Professor Pawe? Ptaszy?ski.  The Department of Electrocardiology in Lodz managed by Professor Jerzy K Wranicz is one of the leading EP Centers in Poland performing most interventional treatment options in patients with arrhythmias.

The Optimizer IVs is a minimally invasive implantable device designed to treat Chronic Heart Failure (CHF).  The device is based on novel Cardiac Contractility Modulation (CCM) technology, and delivers non-excitatory electric pulses to the heart.

“We are very pleased to provide the Optimizer system to our patients who can now benefit from the CCM therapy that is well established in many other countries.  This therapy addresses a major unmet clinical need for patients with a narrow QRS complex that are not adequately controlled with pharmaceutical treatment alone, and currently have no other device-based options” commented Professor Ptaszynski.  “We would like to thank the Univ. Hospital Mannheim and its Cardiology Department, led by Prof. Martin Borggrefe, for the great support”.

“We are very pleased to be able to add Poland to the list of countries that offer the CCM therapy, delivered by the Optimizer device, to its patients” said Dr. Simos Kedikoglou, CEO of Impulse Dynamics.  “CCM is a technology that meets a major need globally, and we are committed to expanding its introduction through healthcare systems worldwide to benefit more patients with heart failure.“

About the Optimizer and CCM

The Optimizer IVs device delivers the CCM therapy. It has been successfully launched in Europe and is available in cardiology centers in various countries. The CCM therapy has been implanted in over 2500 patients to date and is the only device therapy available for patients with narrow QRS complex.  Impulse Dynamics has completed a vast number of clinical studies, including several randomized controlled trials. The results have been published in over 60 publications in leading medical journals. The Optimizer system is limited to Investigational use only in the United States.
